fuckyeahcamping: oliveraaron: This weekend I took another trip to Sharpham Estate with the Sharpham Trust and the University to help with conservational volunteer work and to take photographs, but additionally to get outdoors for a whole weekend. The camp itself is a few yurts where the full time volunteers stay within the woods surrounding a large house owned by the estate. Here they cook, clean, live and study the area usually for roughly 15 weeks at a time, something I would love to have the opportunity to do in the future. The Sharpham Trust is also used to teach people about conservation, tracking, bushcraft and has other activities throughout the year. I love this place, the countryside is so beautiful, the people are so friendly and just being out, helping the local environment is incredibly fulfilling. It does involve a fair bit of work, such as removing invasive reeds from wetlands, but it gives you time to take in some sensational scenery. My most memorable part of the trip this time will be the night, waiting for, although not seeing, Badgers to appear. Once it had got too dark to see if there was anything in the woods or not we sat back to listen to the incredible sounds of Owls and Jackdaws, whilst watching the stars in an extremely clear nights sky. I will post a few more photographs over the coming week as I sift through what I have taken, but for now check out their website for more information on what they do: http://www.sharphamtrust.org/ -- source link
