End image description.)U S. society talks about prioritizing mental health, when insurance companies pay so little to therapists and psychologist, that most can’t (or won’t) take insurance, so most Americans can’t afford mental health treatment. In-patient treatment is either outrageously expensive, fully booked and unavailable, incompetent (if not outrightly abusive), or a nightmarish combination of the above. That’s not even touching the cost of prescriptions (and the fact that so many drugs are abusable and some doctors won’t prescribe them to patients, especially if they’re Black).How can we focus on mental health when taking a day off could cost most of us our jobs? -- source link
