afriend410: usschoolsuck: disneygirl712: the-misadventures-of-lele: psychogemini: deathtasteslikechicken: abs-gabs: SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT So if a teenager is at school for roughly 8 hours, and they are doing homework for 6+ hours, and they need AT LEAST 9 HOURS OF SLEEP FOR THEIR DEVELOPING BRAINS, then they may have 0-1 hours for other activities like eating, bathing, exercise, socializing (which is actually incredibly important for emotional, mental, and physical health, as well as the development of skills vital to their future career and having healthy romantic relationships among other things), religious activities, hobbies, extra curriculars, medical care of any kind, chores (also a skill/habit development thing and required by many parents), relaxation, and family time? Not to mention that your parents may or may not pressure you to get a job, or you might need to get one for economic reasons. I will never not reblog this “…but teenagers have no reason to be stressed.” Me in high school trying to explain stress to my mother Also remember: THERES NO ACTUAL NEED FOR HOMEWORK. Like, at all. Not if you teach your class right there’s no reason for homework or papers or anything of the sort. In elementary school the only homework I was handing out was read to a family member for 20 minutes. But because there are some students who can’t complete this because of out side forces I end up counting it as extra credit when they turn the sheet in.So yeah if you teach your class right you don’t need homework. Reblogging especially for the last part: if you teach your class right, you don’t need homework. That is even more so when you have EIGHT hours of school. Here in Italy, teens have 5 or 6 hours of school every day. If they have 5 hours, they go to school on Saturdays; if they have 6 hours, they have free Saturdays. But the amount of class hours must always be the same. We teachers do assign homework, but good teachers mainly focus on good quality lessons and a consistent programme, so that homework is just a bunch of quick exercises to keep the kiddos fresh and trained: that’s why I never charge my students with homework, it’s pointless. I just try to make my lessons interesting so that they are more likely to remember as much as they can. Exhausting them won’t do any good. -- source link
