hanginggardenstories: Dear Readers, This past January, the ladies of The Hanging Garden began a rather intimidating experiment with short fiction. We promised ourselves that after a year had passed we would re-evaluate to determine whether or not this little blog should continue. After a few rounds of email and soul-searching, we’ve decided that another year is the kind of challenge we can’t walk away from. Yay and woo! To celebrate and to ease our collective transition into the season of snow and carrot noses, we’ve asked 14 of our 2014 debut YA author buds to write a piece for you. Beginning on Tuesday, December 2nd, we’re bringing you 14 consecutive business days of fresh GIFtion. Want to know who’s fallen prey to our clever planning? Introducing… THE HANGING GARDEN 2014 WINTER GALA(Presented in alphabetical order) Kate Bassett, author of WORDS AND THEIR MEANINGS Kate Boorman, author of WINTERKILL MG Buehrlen, author of THE 57 LIVES OF ALEX WAYFARE Rin Chupeco, author of THE GIRL FROM THE WELL Sarah Combs, author of BREAKFAST SERVED ANYTIME Michelle Krys, author of HEXED Lori Lee, author of GATES OF THREAD AND STONE RC Lewis, author of STITCHING SNOW Emery Lord, author of OPEN ROAD SUMMER Philip Siegel, author of THE BREAK-UP ARTIST Lindsey Smith, author of SEKRET Courtney Stevens, author of FAKING NORMAL Mary Elizabeth Summer, author of TRUST ME, I’M LYING Elissa Sussman, author of STRAY The only direction we gave them was a word prompt: WINTER. And we can’t wait to share what they came up with — tales of heartbreak! tales of horror! tales of alien invasion! But wait! There’s more! In just one short year, our readership has grown from the 8 of us to 300 strong. To express our gratitude, one lucky follower will win all of this: Books by 2 of the Winter Gala authors listed above — your choice! (And because we know the question will come up, new followers are also eligible and welcome!) In short, we are grateful to all of you for making this year a rewarding one. We look forward to continuing this trip of lunacy next year. xoxo, Annie, Elle, Bethany, Rosamund, Kate, Amber, Julie, & Natalie -- source link
