lars134: “I was just a normal-looking kid until I was thirteen. Suddenly I shot up … and at the same time I got thinner. My folks were a little concerned if only because they had to keep buying me new suits to fit me. I had three new suits before I was fourteen. And I still grew a few more inches after that, but they never bought me a fourth suit. I had to make do with the third suit with sleeves that didn’t cover my wrists and pants that stopped just short of my ankles. Both my dad and grandfather were tall, so my height was no great surprise. But no one in our family was so thin. Mom got very worried about that and she made me eat huge portions of oatmeal every morning. It didn’t make me put on any weight … but it did make me hate oatmeal so much I haven’t eaten it since. Being thin has been a problem for me in life from time to time. I guess all adolescent boys become self-conscious but I really had something to be self-conscious about. I decided no one was ever going to look at my legs, so I just avoided putting on a bathing suit. People got to thinking I had a phobia about water. My only phobia was about showing my skinny legs. Oh boy, that was a problem I had most of my life.” Jimmy Stewart -- source link
