zephyrboyss:The photo above is from a place called the Vermont Drop. It was a popular skate spot in the South Bay. My mom used to drive us down there to skate it. We all skated the Paul Revere School banks and heard about this spot, so we all went there to tear shit up. I remember Kenny Means used to be a local there on roller skates. He really stood out during that time period. There was a lot of skaters there just as there was at our spots (Revere, Bellagio, Kenter.) All were schools in West L.A. I had some other shots along with these. Photos of Wes Humpston, Jim Muir, Tony Alva, and Bob Biniak, but those photos are at my mom’s house. These photos were taken before skateparks, when everybody was skating banks and just starting to go pool crazy. Us Dogtown boys all skated contests most weekends also some freestyle and slalom but that’s a whole other story. Every weekend we would go to all these different skate spots, there would be over 50 kids every weekend. Boys, girls, full on family trips. Mom and dad out with the kids for the day. That’s me on the left in 1973.The larger photo is from stoker Hill in Hawaii. Alva and me skated there back then with all the boys. Derek Ho, Marvin Kalaui, Foster, Roy Jamison, Gary Owens, Buttons, Vince Klyn. -- source link
