the-thought-emporium-imperial:adrianianam:venusyprime:myurbandream:I haven’t seen this info floating around Tumblr, so I’m putting it up here.Starting June 30th, 2017, Tumblr users will no longer be able to log in to Tumblr using AT&T-affiliated email addresses! If that’s you, go get a new email address! The Tumblr Help Center had a list of domains that will no longer work, and instructions on how to switch to a new email address.Maybe it’s because I’m not from the US, but Verizon doing this seems incredibly fucking petty? I mean, I know US ISPs are shit anyway, but locking people out of their accounts just because the new owners don’t like their email address…ConfirmedAnd yeah this definitely seems like some ISP fuckery at play. They might be trying to get people to migrate off from their ISP-run Email addresses in order to down the road make it easier for them to some day switch to a different ISP, potentially Verizon. Basically it’s counter-user retention tactics which is every bit as shitty as ISPs using email addresses to try and make leaving them a hassle to begin with. Failing of course some sort of super esoteric security reason, though chances are they’ll try to blame this on “spam/bot prevention” even though bots would almost certainly not get tied to a subscription email address.Huh. -- source link
