The Assassination of John F. Kennedy: Depictions in Film.4/7JFK (Oliver Stone, 1991)Our dive into the Kennedy assassination on film brings us to the big gun, Oliver Stone’s JFK.Jim Garrison theorises the military industrial complex took down Kennedy with three snipers. This film is kinda based on real life. And by kinda I mean distorted and false. Also, rather than take my word take an actual historian Alex von Tunzelmann’s word for it.As an aside I remember the bravado of that culminating courtroom scene: the flashy cuts, the props, the dialogue. Looking back I wonder how many people came away believing the films version of events rather than reality. I then further wonder why more than a decade later Oliver Stone did NOT go down the conspiratorial road with his films World Trade Centre (2006) or W. (2008).Many thoughts, hazy on the answers.TumblrChannelTwitter -- source link
