“During a shoot a model will often do a ‘cover try’, which may end up on the cover, inside the magazine or you never see it again. I had done a few of these for Vogue but this was the first time it worked. We had spent a few days shooting at Milton Park in the Southern Highlands and waited for the best afternoon light to shoot it. Everything had to be perfect – retouching wasn’t easy like it is now. After a few Polaroids we shot film and hoped for the best. The colours looked amazing at sunset and I may have had my fingers crossed behind my back. It was a great surprise when I heard I’d made the cover. My cover came in April 1991 and I had moved to Paris two months earlier. Once the snail mail with the cover arrived in Paris I started working a lot more with top designers and advertising clients, as well as for other editions of Vogue such as Italian and British Vogue. I was 17 when it came out so my life has changed a lot since then. I was at the beginning of an amazing ride that took me all over the world, living in Paris and New York, working with the most talented people in the fashion industry. I feel like the ‘90s era was the best time to be a model and I’m grateful I was able to experience and enjoy it.” - Anneliese Seubert -- source link
