velvet-killed-elvis: On June 15, 1990, babysitter Debra Suzanne Cummings made an urgent call to mother Toni Majoy-Young, wife of Kevin Young, a production assistant for the show Twin Peaks. Their son, Kevin Young Jr. had fallen and hit his head. Cummings said on the phone, “He’s got a big bump on his head and I’m afraid to let him go to sleep.” When Toni Majoy-Young entered the home, after a frantic drive over, she saw Cummings holding Kevin, calmly patting him on the bottom. He was unconscious. Kevin died the next day from his injuries. He was nine months old. Cummings claimed Kevin fell and hit his head on a coffee table while she was in the kitchen, making a bottle for him. Kevin’s doctors and the coroner’s office later stated he couldn’t have suffered these injuries from a coffee table, but rather blunt force trauma to the head, caused by a hand or fist. After this news, Cummings, a mother and PTA community leader, was charged with Kevin’s murder. At the time of these charges Cummings was already under investigation for the suspicious death of fourteen-month-old, Matthew Cooley. On March 15, Matthew stopped breathing while under her care at a park. It would be four long years until Debra Suzanne Cummings was cleared of all charges in the deaths of the two children. As she walked out of the courtroom with her family she shouted to the surrounding media:“We’re going to Disneyland!” -- source link
