2016This year, I got outside. I went upstate, went ice climbing, went backpacking for five days, bandaged up a gross sum of blisters on my hands and feet.I stayed inside. I spent a good amount of daylight in Berg’n, sadly not drinking a drop. I put deeper roots into my neighborhood and filled up the apartment with plants (a few are still alive!).I started a series I’m proud of that’s still ongoing. I ran my first roll of film through the Leica in January and haven’t put it down since. I experimented with new exposure settings - night, day, sallow yellow hotel lighting, light-pollution-riddled darkness - and continue to muscle through the learning curve there. I fell hard for b&w; it has loosened my hand. I see my photos turning out darker, sharper, richer and I’m having more fun shooting than ever.I traveled, a little less often for work, a little more for leisure. People came to visit and came into my life. The world shook a little over these past few months, but I find myself feeling surprisingly good. I’m eager to meet what’s ahead.I hope you all have a good 2017 ahead and to anyone following - thanks for tagging along. -- source link
