Hiraeth Creature #1171 - Izvu“Charting and knowing the stars has always been a matter of great importance to the people of Hiraeth. Despite their unfathomable distance away, they still affect Hiraeth is many ways. The stars can be used to chart a map for the lost, and as months pass, both individual stars and constellations come into fuller brightness, affecting celestial magics, the migratory patterns of creatures from the celestial sea, and even creating gateways to realms to far off lands. There has been a documented phenomena of strange satellites orbiting around Hiraeth who also play into the intricate web of interstellar lights that weave together to form celestial magic. One of these lights wandering across the night sky shines a brilliant pink with shimmers of purple and teal. In the west, they’ve been called “Maiden’s Iris”, while in the east they are referred to as “Blossom Tears”, both considered a boon to celestial healing arts, increasing restorative properties substantially. In the west, they believed they embodied the watchful eye of a mother looking to aid her children, and in the east they took note of their slow movement, akin to a tear streaming down the face of the sky, in grief over the wounds befallen by those in need of aid below. In reality, these lights are coming from beasts known as Izvu, and their power over healing arts is incredibly potent. Izvu are born on the flying islands of Hiraeth, and quickly learn to ascend to even higher reaches. Izvu live in the empyrean space between Hiraeth’s sky and the celestial sea, probably the highest any creature born of Hiraeth proper has ever gone. Some are believed to go further, embracing the endless sea, but the ones gliding along the rim of the world are the ones who occasionally share their light with those below, cascading and amplifying their power from the very edge of Hiraeth. It is unknown if this light is merely a natural occurrence for the Izvu or if they truly can sense the plight of those anchored to the wild earth, but regardless, their presence is always seen as a kindness and a reassurance that sympathy has not left the world.” -- source link
