Iconem at the International Cultural Heritage Fair 2017Version française | Last week, Iconem participated in the 23rd International Cultural Heritage Fair (Salon International du Patrimoine Culturel) held at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris from 2 – 5 November. Cultural heritage professionals stopped by the Iconem stand to view video featuring our work in Palmyra, Aleppo, Paris, Pompeii, and other historic cities around the world. Our team welcomed visitors and answered questions about our work and our drone on display. On Friday, 3 November, Luis Monreal, general manager of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, and Maamoun Abdulkarim, former director of the Syrian Directorate-General of Antiquities & Museums, joined Yves Ubelmann, president of Iconem, to speak about their work together in Aleppo in front of a packed auditorium. Their talk, “Rebuild Aleppo,” covered the challenges facing and the importance of technology in the reconstruction of the historic city. Maamoun Abdulkarim summarized the current state of Aleppo’s most important monuments and shared his vision for the future. Luis Monreal presented the resources necessary for the city’s reconstruction and the associated risks. Yves Ubelmann ended the conference by discussing Iconem’s emergency digital survey of Aleppo. Almost 600 people followed the conference via our Facebook Live, which can still be watched on our Facebook page. A higher quality version of the video will soon be available on our YouTube page. Below are photos from our booth and the conference. Thank you to everyone who attended or watched the conference and to everyone who visited our booth.
