Art History with Caroline Quintanar: read our interview with a passionate blogger ! Estimated reading time: 4 min. Could you present yourself and your passions in few words?I am originally from Arizona and have been living abroad in Madrid, Spain for the past 8 years. I studied art history at the University of Arizona and focused on Spanish medieval art and architecture. I always wanted to live in Europe, so shortly after finishing university I moved to Spain…My intention was to stay just a few months and I ended up making it my long term home. My passion for art history grew even more with the ability to travel throughout Spain and Europe and see things I had studied in real life. What’s the main activity of your blog?I started my blog in 2011 out of pure interest in keeping up with art history and the academic world. The idea is to share historical places and pieces of art that are less well known. There are hidden gems across the world that are breathtaking! By sharing these places and things I also hope to promote conservation and preservation. I am also working with different museums and galleries to promote cultural awareness through featuring exhibitions and artists.Your blog arthistorycq is pretty eclectic and mixes various historic periods. How do you choose your content?I originally was only going to focus on Medieval art and architecture but there are so many amazing things out there that it really comes down to what I feel like sharing that day. Most of the time you can find medieval on my blog but I also share early 20th century art or ancient art. I also open up the blog to requests from followers along with guest posts to keep the content interesting. Can you give three names of art history blog/website you cannot live without? For sure:#1 www.medievalists.net - I have followed this website and blog for ages and love the unique content!#2 mediumaevum.tumblr.com - I have been an avid follower since I started my blog and she always shares the most interesting things!#3 thegetty.tumblr.com - my final choice is The Getty tumblr. Hilarious commentary on interesting content and very engaging. This is a great example of how museums should be interacting with the public.Discover the blog of Caroline on arthistorycq.tumblr.com -- source link
