Despite the title, crochet shows up quite a bit in Knitting Yarns (2013) and its sequel, Knitting Pearls (2015). This is not too surprising, as both books are made of stories from the writers’ lives, and many people both knit and crochet. But each book has one story focused solely on crochet.Knitting Yarns has “Judite” by Kaylie Jones:Her nanny Judite was the Queen of Crochet. Through her intricate, beautiful gifts she tried to communicate all the feelings she had no words to express in their daily life together. Unfortunately, it took the author her entire life to understand what Judite was trying to say.And Knitting Pearls has “Clothes for the Living” by Steve Almond:How a revelation of death when he was only six led the author into a brief obsessive love affair with crocheting. -- source link
