[Kate] would creep in to Mrs. May just before teatime and Mrs. May would teach her to crochet.Crochet plays a part in the framing device of The Borrowers.  When Kate loses her crochet hook, Mrs. May wonders if it wasn’t taken by Borrowers, and relates the story as it was told to her by her younger brother.As far as I know, none of the film adaptations have included the framing device, and thus none of them have included any crochet. -- source link
