Florida Tree Snail (Liguus fasciatus)The Florida Tree Snail is an endangered species of arboreal snail found in South Florida. It lives in habitats called hammocks which are elevated places where groups of hardwood trees grow. These areas are often like little islands surrounded by an ocean of contrasting habitat (such as marshland). There are over 50 different subspecies of Florida Tree Snail and each subspecies has its own shell colors and patterns. Unfortunately, part of the reason these snails are endangered is because their shells are desirable collector’s items. The other factor threatening them is habitat loss and destruction.Etsy | DeviantArt | Instagram -- source link
