Silk Hive (Euconulus trochulus)Snails in the genus Euconulus are referred to as “Hive Snails” because their tall shells resemble beehives in shape. Hive Snails are typically only a couple of millimeters long, so they’re considered to be microsnails. The Silk Hive lives in leaf litter where it presumably eats decomposing organic material, however, they will also get live plant matter if given the chance.(If you’re wondering what the red stuff is in the head and neck, I actually have no idea. The Silk Hives that I’ve seen as well as the photos of live animals online all seem to have that red color inside, so it’s presumably part of some internal structure. Once I feel up to it, I’m going to try to hunt down the original species description and see if whoever first described this snail mentioned anything about it or what it is.)Etsy | DeviantArt | Instagram -- source link
