bob0315: Art by Tommy I watched an obscure ‘psychological melodrama’ the other night, called “Inside” (about a woman and her husband, who “lost” their son and kind of *forcibly adopts* this *orphaned* nineteen year old boy, who has an uncanny resemblance to their mysteriously departed son). Being an unrepentant *spanko*, I couldn’t help but pick up on subtle(?) [and some not so subtle] references to spanking and punishments. The first of them being; after the boy (who had gotten injured in “an accident” and was *cared for* by the couple) was assisted and helped in the bathroom by the “father” with toilet and dressing, and shortly after that service is completed, the “mother” asks him, “why wasn’t your hair brushed”. He answers, that he couldn’t find a brush. She shows signs of annoyance, and proceeds into the bathroom, walking in a *deliberate* manner around him, with him confined to wheel chair, and retrieves a Large hairbrush, holds it up [showing the flat side and Not the bristle side], and says to him, in an unmistakable motherly, commanding and/or authoritarian tone of voice, that she’ll perform *the duty* for him.Anticipating objection and an argument, “mother” issues a preemptive warning, “That one just doesn’t say No, to a well practice, disciplined minded mother”, still showing the *other working surface* of the brush, and walking up to him from behind, asks him, “how he wants his hair brushed”. He says, cautiously and tentatively, “the usual way he wears it”. She then proceeds to style his hair to more resemble “the missing son”.The “adopted” boy isn’t happy with the outcome of the styling; but doesn’t say anything. Looking at her face (we’ve all seen it “The I Dare You” look), that tells him she wants him to make that mistake and tell her, “he doesn’t like it”, in so many words, so she can show him just how serious she is. Eyeing the brush and seeing her posture, and that she still has a firm hold of the brush, and is waving It in his face, he wisely holds his tongue, but he definitely isn’t happy. As I said this was only start of this boy’s discipline journey, as he is confined to his bed with restraining straps, is slapped (on the hands and arms, but he just knows it could take *a serious* turn for the worse), gets a mouth soaping, and a threat that, “If he continues to act like a six year old, you leave her no choice, but to treat him accordingly”. Knowing fully, how an uncooperative and naughty *child* will certainly wind up in this house.Unfortunately there are only *references to getting “really” punished - But after all, this is *a melodrama* and not a dedicated spanking film. The pictures in Tommy’s illustrations kind of completes some of the scenes, the movie just suggests, But, if you take it to the *logical absurdity* of “a discipline minded mother’s” threat…The woman cast for the role of “a well disciplined mother”, was aptly cast to fulfill the job of *the suspension of disbelief”. As she was physically suited to carrying out “her motherly duties”, and taking the threats, to their *logical conclusion*. -- source link
