tiffanyillustration:Achillobator. The hoots and trills of a courting couple of Achillobator sound across the muddy lowland floodplains of a Cretaceous morning. This pair will alternate, calling and leaping each dawn and dusk for nearly a week, before mating and selecting a nesting site. Known from just one specimen, this is the largest of the Mongolian dromaeosaurids - whose more famous relatives include Velociraptor, Deinonychus, and Utahraptor. Active pack hunters, egg thieves, as well as scavengers, Achillobator lived in small family groups with vast territories, working cooperatively, communicating, and playing as they reaped the bounty of seasonal migrations of the much larger herds of dinosaurs. -- source link
