afronerdism: wakandamama: eversoslightlybitter: k-itt–y:this is real. absolute queen shit. QUEEN SHIT Yeah but let’s tell the whole story. After spending years tracking down these men and making sure most of them are either in jail or dead, three of them escaped prison on Mother’s Day in 2017 and shot her in front of her home. She knew that her life was in danger because her Crusade for vengeance had been so public and the Mexican government refused to give her any security. So she died on Mother’s Day in 2017.And the story of what happened to her daughter, Karen, is unfortunately not a unique one. The cartel is been doing this for years. They kidnap children and kill them but force the parents to pay extreme ransom over long periods of time in the hopes that they’ll get their children back. After taking out a loan on her house and losing all of her money trying desperately to pay off the cartel even sitting down with one of them begging them to release her daughter, she eventually realize her daughter was not coming home and sit out to hunt them down. The story is actually really incredible and I encourage you all to read about it.Some of the details of this case are bone chillingly cold. Like right after Karen went missing her mother went to a restaurant that, unbeknownst to her, was right up the road from where Karen had been murdered and a woman with whom she had known her entire life said that she had no idea that Karen had even been missing only to realize later that this woman was romantically involved with one of Karen’s kidnappers and had even had some of the ransom calls come from her house. -- source link
