onenicebugperday: Velvert worm, New Zealand peripatus, Peripatoides novaezealandiae Velvet worms are in their own phylum, Onychophora. They are nocturnal hunters that spit an adhesive slime made in glands near their mouth to trap prey. Female Peripatoides produce eggs that are fertilized internally and babies develop inside their mother until large enough to be born, in batches of 4-6, as colorless miniatures of the parents.
