raqueliyastudies: Guys I am super new to this. I am also sure most people have already mentioned these or some of these tips in their posts before, but I wanted to share some of the things that have helped me get through college. These are 5 “healthy” tips I learned my first semester in College. I really hope you find this helpful. Please, keep in mind that this is based on my personal experience. Tip 1: Breakfast! Something I’ve learned through experience is to ALWAYS eat healthy. I know most students don’t like to eat early in the AM, but try to always eat something before class. This is especially important on exam days. Tip 2: Snacks! I’ve learned to always bring snacks. By snacks I mean healthy snacks such as nuts, dried fruits, granola bars, etc. These are great because they give you energy, and if you stay in a dorm those snacks are perfect because they won’t get spoiled soon or smell bad. I know that Universities and Colleges have vending machines and places where you could buy snacks, but most of them don’t sell healthy ones and if they do they are usually pricey. Also, do not forget to drink lots of water. Tip 3: Stay Active! And of course, by active I don’t necessarily mean go to the gym, though that would be great and most colleges offer free membership to full-time students. Also, some of them offer classes such as yoga. But if you don’t like any of that go for a walk, maybe a run, or even hiking. Whatever it is that makes you happy do it, and do it at least 2-3 times a week. This will improve your mood and relieve your stress, and if you are like me it will help with your anxiety and depression too. Tip 4: Rest well! Sleep! I know is fun to stay up late with friends playing video games or gossiping with the girls, but don’t over do it. If you are like me that barely sleeps at night due to stress and insomnia take naps throughout the day, this will help you get through the day and those long study sessions. Tip 5: Counseling & Disability! I know many students (including myself) suffer from, stress, anxiety, depression, or something else. Guys take advantage of the counselors in your colleges, they are there for a reason and it is to help you cope with stress. Whether it is college related or something personal going on, reach out to them. Use that resource because it is there for you. Also, take advantage of the disability services in your college. If your anxiety affects you when you are taking an exam or quiz, you might need special accommodation. There is nothing wrong with getting the help you need, use it! I have this service because I can get very anxious during exams, and I sometimes need a little extra time. Also, it is confidential, so no one will know. That’s all for this month. If you have any further questions please do ask. If I don’t know the answer I am sure someone else in this amazing Studyblr community will be able to help you. And if not, I will do everything in my power to help you. -- source link
