tracyalexander: lady-feral: closet-keys: bogleech: As so many people have pointed out though, this is exactly how public schools treat bullying. Fighting back IS punishable and almost everyone heard some variation on “it doesn’t matter who started it” from adults in their life at some point so no wonder society’s ability to differentiate instigators is so fucked up honestly, this is directly connected to the fact that most bullying is derived from some form of cultural oppression anyway (bullying disabled, gay, trans, & autistic kids, bullying kids of color, bullying poor kids, etc.). our schools teach children the rules of oppression and how marginalized people will be punished for fighting back in any way. and that’s because our schools are part of this culture, and that’s how it functions everywhere. See: Zero Tolerance policies. There was one time in highschool where I refused to fight back, and I still got punished. I got suspended for 3 days for getting beat up. The school had ZERO TOLERANCE for involvement in physical violence, and as the victim, I was involved. whaaaaat the fuck -- source link
