dormtainment:iamacreativebeing:darvinasafo:Don’t be fooled; this Street Harassment Campaign is a new tactic to replace Stop & Frisk and justifies legislation to disenfranchise Black Males.#staywokeSomeone redo this experience and include everyone please. This experiment as found a flaw and it needs to be redone. I’m 1/6 black men of a popular Youtube channel. I’ve had 5+ years experience on Youtube so I notice certain things about what works on Youtube. You wanna know what has been making me go crazy for a while?Youtube (like anything on the internet, or any media) has trends and themes that work to get views. What I’ve noticed is that putting anti-black themes in the content, without putting black in the title, is one of those trends that work. It works in the same way a bright colored image with “TOP 5 WAYS TO BLANKITY BLANK YOUR BLANK” work.Just like those “in the hood” prank videos, people naturally connect to anti-black content. This video further proves that, behind the mask of “feminism”. This is a content strategy used to gain audiences worldwide across all demographics. Youtubers have geographic data (down to the city), age, and gender of a large percentage of views { it has become more accurate since Google has become more pressuring in their need for you to sign in). This type of content attracts all.People actual respond to, connect with, and share these images in a viral way. The way people are voting with their viewership, it’s almost as if it’s what people want to see in their media.I’ve seen this video float around Tumblr, with the captions “MUST WATCH”, and “VERY IMPORTANT”. There are hardly any talks of race coming from the majority of people sharing it. Maybe they don’t see race, and they see culture? I’m not sure…There is a current (well reoccurring) method of of companies that need a leg up on the internet using black images, language, or controversial black content to gain attention. Youtube, while it has varying but continued success, has tried to stay relevant to the world outside of teeny bopping vloggers. Allowing anti-black content to flourish is one of the ways they do so, be it intentionally or otherwise. If they truly had morals, they wouldn’t allow those truly damaging videos of white men actually harassing black people to continue to be made. It’s different from verbal harassment. They touch people and their property to get a reaction. With the internet becoming more connected to the real world, I thought the digital age would bring new thought when it came to poor black communities to help us all grow as humanity. Now I think it’s a reflection of the truly despicable mindsets and thoughts when it comes to black culture.I’m starting to realize that the entire world has a love/hate for the culture of poor black people, and it’s beginning to explain a lot of human reactions to our issues.I’m mad at the creators of this type of content, but I’m more upset that this content WORKS. It’s the people man…look at how viral that video went. 31 million views. One of Youtube’s biggest pieces of “hit” content in so long. Come on man. Seriously. Our kids are getting killed. Stop using us.Or maybe I’m just too into Youtube.I need to go chill out and eat some pancakes or somethin.(Next time I’ll tell you guys how storytelling editing techniques are used to make people think “real footage” is “real footage”). -- source link
