punkinguts:There was once a small town bordering a vast forest far to the east of therest of civilization, nearest where the end of the world was rumored to be.Aside from its precarious location, the town was noteworthy for only onething:It held a pair of gods. Two beautiful beings, much larger than any human, from which power seemed toradiate. The sight of them was what first drove people to settle there, and theybuilt great castles and crafted fine jewellery to appease the two heavenlybeings. They were welcomed to stay, and so the town began to prosper - food wasnever in short supply, and rain always seemed to fall when water was needed. The deities and the townspeople lived happy lives.Eventually, the two bore a child. It was not kept a secret by any means, for the two deities were happy andwanted to share their joy with their people. They brought out their daughter, wrapped carefully in a blanket one of the weavers had crafted for them, andshowed her to all who came to see.The townspeople had never seen a creature so bright, so radiant, and theywere all amazed. They crafted toys for the infant and pampered her mother evenmore than before, and the deities were grateful. They trusted their people, andbrought their daughter out every day.She began to grow and interact more, clasping the fingers of humans whooffered their hands to her, and beaming at her parents whenever they spoke. The people were enamored, and yet the some began to want more. Some said it must have just been the humans’ need to connect with others, asthe remote nature of their town made it nearly impossible to venture out toother cities. Some said it was the act of one person alone, who didn’t reflect thefeelings of the townspeople as a whole. But most said it was greed that motivated the humans to one day betray thetwo otherworldly beings.Eventually, the little girl began to even eat the different foods that thehumans brought to her. It was shortly after that time that all the humans inthe town were awoken by horrified screams. The deities were distraught - their daughter had been stolen from her armsas they slept, and there was no trace of her in the town at all.A human who’d lived amongst them had also gone missing.—Days later, a weary traveler reached the most prestigious kingdom on thecontinent, a bundle wrapped in beautiful woven cloths held in his arms.He knelt in front of the royal couple, presenting them with the incrediblegift of an infant god, who reached out to them and babbled. He was paid with unimaginable wealth and given a place to live within thegrand castle itself. But when he made the trek to bring his family to his new, prosperous home,he found there was no sign of the town he’d left behind. This isn’t the best writing but I’m kinda proud of myself for just going ahead and posting itI’m really self-conscious about writing oc background info tbh ahah… -- source link
