tgweaver: My Tumblr is dead, but I am not. My website: TGWeaver’s Trash Pile, is the best place to follow me for now.Further updates may also be available on my Patreon. Perhaps that’s being dramatic, but in 2 weeks, Tumblr is going to institute a permanent ban on all NSFW and adult content. Unsurprisingly, that includes me.You’ve probably heard by now, but Tumblr has decided it is no longer a place for adult content. By the time this goes into effect, by new site guidelines, my Tumblr will basically be vanished into the ether – still here, but effectively invisible to basically everyone. No new NSFW posts will be allowed and all old NSFW posts will be effectively removed. At such time as I can go back and prune all NSFW content from my blog, it may be appealed and re-opened as a SFW, non-adult blog. If you know my content then by now you know: I rely on my work (largely as distributed/advertised through this blog) for the income that keeps me alive; I literally have to do this to pay my bills. With Tumblr removing my content, my very livelihood is now literally being affected. My work is definitely not SFW-limited and not easily sanitized. I do not have much presence on other sites, and my own website (above) does not really advertise – I’m sure some of you reading this may not have even heard of it, though I’ve done my best to announce it repeatedly. So, what happens now? I will try to maintain a (sterilized) blog here once all NSFW content has been purged, posting only SFW material, but the blog will become anemic, if not vestigial. So where to go instead? There are many alternatives, but I’m hard-pressed to pick which I can work with. I’m sure a whole host of artists will be scattering to other sites as people try to determine what “the” NSFW Tumblr replacement site/community will be. I’ve heard everything floated from Twitter to Newgrounds, but most sites have a big drawback. Not that Tumblr didn’t, of course – but Twitter typifies a common problem in these sites of being even worse at archiving/searching, just for example. My site at w.secret.graphics is ultimately going to be a complete archive of all my work, new and old alike, from my new tablet doodles to drawhore content circa 2005. But it doesn’t advertise and it won’t draw in new members by just existing – it needs a window into existing social media or other platforms to let people know it exists and has things to offer. It’s also completely free, so I don’t make revenue through it, even via ads, and only voluntary Patreon support keeps it (and me) running. Honestly, I’m not sure what to do yet. The truth is I woke up to this news just recently, and I’m still scrambling for my options. The feeling is utterly miserable and not to overstate, but I’m (I think justifiably) concerned for my future, in many ways. I will be exploring different possibilities from here on out, so I will keep progress posted here as well as on my site and probably my Patreon. Wish me luck. And here’s to all my fellow artists, creators, and fans who have been hit by this just as hard. Here’s hoping. -- source link
