tgweaver: On the Road With Tumblr dissolving me and most of my fellow artists in less than two weeks
tgweaver: On the Road With Tumblr dissolving me and most of my fellow artists in less than two weeks, it’s time I made announcements for the future. So here’s where to find me: My site at w.secret.graphics, TGWeaver’s Trash Pile, is the best place to follow me. If you want my gallery and showcase, this is where to go.I’ll be posting my art here going forward, and I’ll have more to say about that soon. Right now the site is getting large batch updates of new and old content, which will become a regular schedule. It’s got a carefully tagged gallery that’s made for easy, consistent searching and convenient blacklisting, plus it has fun bonus features like a full tegaki paint board and a gachapon for stickers you can use to tag and decorate images in the gallery. I’ve got literally thousands upon thousands of pictures I’ve done over the years that are being uploaded in bulk, so it will take some time, but I’ve saved nearly every single thing I’ve ever drawn, and the gallery will eventually serve as an archive for ALL of it.My site also features logins via Discord or other accounts if you prefer that to making an account just for the Trash Pile. The API for these services is entirely on their side (i.e. Discord handles its own verification, not my site) so if you have any security-related reservations, know you’re not giving up any personal information if you don’t want to set up a site-specific login.I’m also currently looking into adding a simple RSS feed for the site, so people know when to find the newest uploads, rather than just intermittently checking on it. But, my site has no revenue and no real means of advertising. Like me, my site relies on donations to my Patreon, especially with this exodus from Tumblr now, and so it’s important to have an outward presence for announcements, news, discussion, and a window into existing social media to reach new fans and alert existing ones. However, my Patreon itself isn’t a great place for updates (though I will be repeating important announcements like this one there, to cover all my bases) and I don’t use it to host content given a shaky history of content checks. To that end, I’ve got a Twitter now! I’ll be using Twitter to post news, announcements, gallery updates, concepts, trivia, old and new art, and more. Twitter doesn’t make for a great gallery (I’ll be using my site for that), nor is it too conducive to storing or archiving, but it will be useful for keeping up with me and my work. If you want to stay posted, I’ll do my best to stay on top of things here! Lastly, I do have an account at Piczel.tv, which I’ll be using to stream. Piczel is offering a revamp in the wake of Tumblr’s artist shutout, and may in fact be a worthwhile site to find further presence on, so we’ll see how that pans out! At the least, you can bookmark me here and be alerted when I’m starting a new stream. Finally, to suggestions like Newgrounds, Pornhub, Pixiv, Mastodon, etc.: For now, I have a pretty good gallery on my own site and I’ve got it all set the way I like it. What I really need is a connection to social media and any potential fanbase expansion, which Twitter will help with. Should any of these new options turn out great, I may yet join them. For now, I’m in a wait-and-see mode, and if I should be late to the party when they prove themselves, I’m willing to take that risk. As for this Tumblr itself, it will stay up until the deadline, whereupon Tumblr will silence and vanish it. I’ll continue to post and update until then.I can’t say with any confidence I will sanitize it post-vanishing and petition to have it returned to visibility, so the deadline may well be the last time you see this blog. Even should it ever return, it will be utterly gutted and anemic, even vestigial, and I wouldn’t expect much from it beyond redirects to the above sites. Oh and I have a Discord! I’ll post more about it later but for now, know that: It’s on-topic for my works only, and not meant to be used as just a social/chatroom hangout If that appeals to you, invites are not private, but I avoid posting them publicly due to past trouble with bots. Just DM me on twitter or ask me here on Tumblr and I’ll send you an invite. Thank you all for joining me. This isn’t goodbye (and since the deadline is still about 10 days away, it’s not even “goodbye from Tumblr”), and I hope to see you all on the other side. -- source link
