THE DAY HAS COME —-Whispers came all through the square in your home— the Presid
THE DAY HAS COME —-Whispers came all through the square in your home— the President would announce the Quarter Quell this evening. Even if you wanted to miss it, you couldn’t. Television screens are everywhere, there’s no way you’d be able to escape the big news.So you don’t. Wherever you are, you catch what Snow has to say.Right on queue, the Panem anthem begins to play as you see your president take his steps out to the podium to address his people. He’s pasty, his stringy hair is slicked back, and he’s wearing a white rose in his gray suit pocket, waiting patiently for the anthem to finish before he begins. He explains the Quell. The 25-year reminder to citizens of the Dark Days, and the rebels. An extra act of repentance for those terrible times when people’s selfishness and greed nearly destroyed the great Panem. And now, it was time to unfold this year’s great Quarter Quell. He holds a velvety red envelope, sealed with wax of the Panem symbol. When he opens it, everything is in silence. Not a breath to be heard. “People of Panem, for our 75th Quarter Quell, to show that there is never peace or comfort, and to signify to the rebels that not a single person is safe, even loved ones, the pool of tributes this year will be selected from those closest to our victors, from every age.”Silence remains. The notecard hangs in Snow’s hand, and he makes direct contact with the screen. He’s looking at you. He’s sending a message. You are not safe. No one is safe. No matter how hard you try, you can’t protect the ones you love.“Panem today. Panem tomorrow. Panem forever.”LORE DROPFor the last sixty-five years, District Three introduced a piece of technology used by all. Tele-Coms are a massive device meant to help citizens talk to one another across far distances. For all intents and purposes, Tele-coms are like telephone, but range from their technical advance-ness. Tele-coms are very common, even house-hold items in more affluent districts. The Capitol, One, Two, Three, and Four, are likely to have tele-coms in most houses, but certainly in the victors’ homes. Three, while not as affluent, made the damn things so… they’re pretty common. All of these locations have recently up-to-date versions, similar to vintage land-lines as we know them. In less affluent districts, tele-com systems are set up within the community. It is possible that a victor might have one in their home (if they really cared to have one and potentially put up a fuss), otherwise, there are at least two tele-coms set up in a district for people to use to reach outside districts. You do have to pay to use these, however, so they tend not to be used often. These will often look like telephone-booths as we know them. Most people know that while tele-coms are useful, and can help you talk to loved ones in other areas, the sense is they’re bugged, and in impoverished districts, are never really worth the price, so they’re typically extremely run down. But in this situation, paying that much money to talk to someone about this, you might just shell it out.OUT OF CHARACTERSo yeah, how about that. Let’s just jump right into it. This is going to be a heavy info dump here.YOU HAVE TEN DAYS TO HAVE THREADS AND FINISH THEM BEFORE THE NEXT DROP COMES. I might extend it to fourteen days if we’re really needing it but I have a lot planned for the next approx two months and you guys are so good at keeping things going so I trust we’re able to stay in that timeframe and move along. WITH THAT SAID, THIS DROP IS NOT MEANT TO MEAN YOU HAVE TO INTERACT WITH EVERYONE. Because there is such a short amount of time here, I would rather folks have a handful of really crucial and developed threads than try to spread themselves thin. Of course, the expectation is that you’d be writing with your character’s that are closest to you, like who is in your district. Or, in the case of some of the shenanigans I’m seeing on the dash, talking to those who are associated with the rebellion. While I highly encourage you to interact with those in your district, it’s not mandatory. For those who are in districts where they are the only playable character, this is where the lore drop comes into play to help you interact with those your characters are close with outside of your district (but everyone can utilize this tidbit). If you are having issues getting threads together for your character, please let me know and I will set you up with one of mine or even an npc thread. Also keep in mind, it’s almost a guarantee that these phones are being listened to. Be careful what you say over the phone. Your actions might have consequences.I would recommend, to keep things easy breezy and quick, you use the chat-post style for your tele-com threads (similar to how text threads function). You don’t have to do this, of course, just a suggestion to help move things along quickly. As always, you know where to hit up questions. And Happy Hunger Games!QUICK DETAILSStart date: Right nowEnd date: Threads must end by April 26thTag: Please create different tags for your phone conversations from regular threads. Optionally you can also tag threads as ‘chapter two’ if you’d like. -- source link
