GALTx eNews: We Survived Another Quarter Of 2020!No one’s 2020 can be described as ordinary. We are making the most of it and persevering to help the hounds. Somehow, with thanks to our amazing volunteers and supporters, we have made it through the third quarter already! The GALT family grew by 51 hounds last quarter. Three came from shelters and the rest came primarily from the racing industry, including the “Palm Beach 15,” the “Fab 15,” and the “Slatex 7.” Peggy increased our GALT family by seven when she delivered her puppies on July 27th. Eight hounds joined the GALT family with broken legs (at an average veterinary cost of about $4,000 each or $32,000). And Gumdrop joined us with serious and painful injuries she suffered while living stray. The Dallas and New Mexico teams found forever homes for 46 lucky hounds and our Austin team found homes for 11 more! GALT New Mexico celebrated its third anniversary and the adoption of 70 hounds since its inception in September 2017!Our medical costs just for the Dallas and New Mexico teams exceeded a staggering $88,000 for the quarter. Many thanks to all who participated in our fundraisers, which included Central Texas’s Heading for Home on-line auction, North Texas Giving Day, Peggy’s Puppies Play Date Raffle, Win a Salum Dinner for Ten Raffle, Name Peggy’s Puppies, Julie’s House a Hound Fundraiser, and New Mexico’s Roo, Raffle and Roll! Fundraising in a pandemic is unprecedented and challenging. We would not be able to continue our mission of “No Grey Turned Awaytm” without the help of our donors. Please stick with us for the rest of the year and on to 2021! Remember that you can make a donation to help the hounds any time on our website. Thank you!10.23.20 -- source link
