GALTx eNews: Introducing Gumdrop’s Guardian Angel! Many thanks to Chris and Rita Wulke who recently honored the memory of their Rainbow Bridge angel, Shelby, by sponsoring Gumdrop, a very special GALT grey, in the Blazer’s Guardian Angels program.Chris and Rita explained: “We adopted Shelby in 2015. She was our second GALT greyhound and came home with her housemate, Fleet. She was instantly the light of Chris’s life. She charmed everyone she met and never met a stranger. When we would go to the vet, she was ‘on’ and all of the staff came running to see her.Sadly, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2018. We immediately started an aggressive fight – radiation, chemo and finally amputation. After a protracted recovery from the amputation, we were ready to start another course of treatment. However, it had metastasized in her lungs and eventually spread to other organs. We lost her last year in July. And her presence is sorely missed. We helped transport Gumdrop to a hand-off with another driver. She was so sweet even though the pain must have been awful. We knew we could help her so we sponsored her in loving memory of Shelby.” Click here to read more about the Blazer’s Guardian Angel’s program.GALT deeply appreciates the special donors who have covered the extensive medical expenses of GALT greys in need.
