@faline-art uploaded this sketch very recently, and I found myself wanting to break out my long neglected tablet and seeing what it would look like with a bit of color added in. Such a lovely sketch with quite a bit of love given to the apple cutie on the left.More extrapolation below the break.forgive me if coherency suffers. I’m currently feeling unwell, but really want to get this posted and would be remiss no to talk about my experience.I realized that coloring gives me a great opportunity to appreciate, at length, the wonderful artwork that’s done by talented artists. Noticing small details such as muscle tone and the brightness in the character’s eyes.I decided to stick to strictly to the default colored pencil brush in Clip Studio. The original is a photocopy of a sketch, so solid colors and clean fill would look out of place. I instead wanted to make the colors blend and seem like it was done in traditional as well (which people tell me I’m good at doing). Using, again, show accurate colors along with a few improvisations for the crosshatched shading. This likely took me two hours or so of brushing the entire thing by hand. I had to force myself to leave in the imperfections that I noticed along the way. Makes it seem less digital.I enjoyed seeing the characters come more to life. I especially enjoyed coloring AJ. Her color tone compliments traditional style so very well. It’s odd that I didn’t get the same thrill when coloring Dash, though her mane did in some aspects (and other times when I want to tear my own hair out as well. Her mane aint easy).Hope things calm down a little more on your end, Faline. I patiently await for more artwork from you. As always. -- source link
