redkiteslike:graphrofberk:Deleted scene from How to Train Your Dragon 2 [x]This scene is so great because it wipes the comical grins off the twins’ faces for the first time in the entire franchise (the show excluded). For a short moment, they are more than funny comic relief. For a moment, they are real characters. Snotlout (labeled “bragging beefy guy with underlying insecurity”) has openly expressed authentic joy and love before (touching Hookfang for the first time, crying over Hiccup’s apparent death), but this is the first time for the twins to display a variety of emotions outside of their stereotype (”crazy, daring, arguing constantly”). We kind of knew Ruffnut thought a little deeper and different from Tuffnut by this point (because she starts to pursue her own interests apart from her brother), but Tuffnut barely got anything to do in Httyd2, so his reaction moves even stronger. He’s being more than “obsessed” with a fun new object or hobby here, he shows in a vulnerable, emotional way how much he truly cares for people.
