You might not know this man when you look at him, but you know this man’s guitar work. He played at Woodstock with Joe Cocker and on several of his albums, he then joined Paul McCartney’s Wings and played a sweet solo on “My Love” and went on to play on countless albums and is still touring. His name is Henry McCullough and he was the wonderful lead guitarist on Jesus Christ Superstar. There are incredible moments on the album where his groove is amazing- like on the Overture when he just goes into complete jam with the Grease Band. Or his beautiful rhythm guitar work on the acoustic during “I Don’t Know How To Love Him”. I also love his feel and professionalism- always giving 100% to the whole and not necessarily taking the center stage with a masturbatory solo. He is top drawer all the way. It is so rewarding to sit down and actively listen to JCS and choose an instrument to focus on. I have done this my whole life because I see music in shapes and colors. But anyone can do it when they listen to JCS because it is produced and mixed so well. Try it. Put on the headphones and listen to Henry’s guitar playing. It is wonderful. Henry will be in the United States at the beginning of August to play at a Beatles Festival in Chicago- if you get a chance to see him- go. We are desperately trying to book him for an interview and I remain optimistic. No one has said no, per se, it’s just that no one has admitted to actually know him yet! I get the feeling he loves his career the way it is and likes picking and choosing his gigs and interviews as he pleases. I feel like I may be getting vetted. So if any of his handlers out there are reading this, know that I adore Henry’s work and I would love to interview him regarding his beautiful work on JCS! Oh yeah, and tell him I want him to bring his guitar too! Peace and love! -- source link
