This weekend was Greenpoint’s second annual Open Studio event which I was thrilled to be a part of. This is the first year I’ve ever had my own studio and at first I didn’t think much of that, but I must say it feels pretty good to have and manage a space that harbors other artists. I’ve also never really hung my work to be on display in recent years so it was interesting to watch people’s reactions and listen to their comments. I also got the opportunity to meet some of the people in my building who were all really great and talented folks. I unfortunately didn’t get the chance to check out much outside of my building since I had to be in my studio, though I did get a chance to check out Nuit Blanche which was quite a sight. Saturday night a few blocks in Greenpoint were transformed into a visual delight with projections and light installations all over the streets and buildings- I took a few shots, but these do no justice to the splendor of witnessing it. Not to mention free absinthe…that was a nice touch. I kept wanting to run to my studio to pick up my proper camera, but sometimes you have to just revel in the moment and rely on your senses and memories to play it all back for you. I look forward to the next installment because this was a definite success… -- source link
