ancientpeoples:Terra cotta urn This Etruscan urn shows the supreme craftmanship of Etruscan terra cotta molding. It shows reliefs of high emotion and drama, for which Etruscan urns are known. On the urn there are still traces of red, blue, brown and yellow paint. The owner is depicted on the top of the urn, and is lying as if at a dinner table. This is what the Etruscans wanted in the afterlife, to enjoy an eternal dinner, with all the pleasures of the social elites. On the ends of the urn the figures Vanth and Charun can be seen, the goddess and escort of the dead. Etruscan, mid 2nd century BC. Found in Chiusi, central Italy.
