Not only is it beautiful but it tastes very delicately like lobster but much “cleaner”, in a sense. The cool thing about removing mushrooms form the forest is that it actually helps propagate them by releasing their microscopic spores all over the place, and there are some studies indicating that picking them actually stimulates mycelial growth— the mycelium being the body of the mushroom organism; the mushroom only a fruit of that body. People often make this mistake of thinking that the mushroom is the central part of the organism. When foraging and harvesting tends to impact the environment negatively is when commercial outfits take ALL of the mushrooms including babies that have not come to sporulating maturity. This can be detrimental but again, studies have not even concluded that this is completely accurate. Mushrooms are a tremendous and brilliant organism and without them and other bacterium, yeast, and such, we WOULD NOT HAVE SOIL. <3 -- source link
