Americana Double Header this Thursday at Jalopy! Dubl Handi kicks things off at 8 pm opening for The Lonesome Trio. Dubl Handi is guy/girl team Hilary Hawke and Brian Geltner named after the Washboard company from the 1800’s. Dubl Handi is pronounced like, Double Handy, just spelled different. In the tradition of folk music around the world rhythmic groove is a pervasive thread. Dubl Handi uses percussion, drums, and banjo to play songs from appalachian region of the Northeast States. The Lonesome Trio play at 9pm. Twenty years ago, in the rolling plains of northern Ohio, a strange and fortuitous gathering occurred. Ed Helms, Ian Riggs, and Jacob Tilove, then students at Oberlin College, were drawn together by a mutual love of fine whiskey and bluegrass. In short order, music was happening. With Riggs on bass, Helms on guitar, Tilove on mandolin and all three melodically shouting, a distinctive musical voice took shape. $12 gets you in for both shows! -- source link
