The meeting of these two characters is really interesting, because Killua is probably the most offhand and jaded character among our protagonists. He doesn’t look at the big picture. He sees and lives in the moment. This is someone who was raised not to want things of his own, who spent millions on ChocoRobos, who it seems left his family on a whim the first time, went back there after a single (GRANTED MAJOR) setback, and left again just as quickly without saying goodbye to the people who cared about him. He doesn’t notice people like Canary, he’s never been instructed to pay attention to other’s feelings, and he’s never been given reason to consider his own future. Of course he would say, “You don’t have to feel responsible”. Meanwhile Wing so far has been incredible cautious and intentional in his every decision and action (Wonton destruction of property aside). He focuses incredibly on the grand scheme, on the greater possible impact, and on personal responsibility. He takes care in who he talks to and when he gives instruction is always careful to include a multitude of warnings about potential misuse and danger. He also is, for whatever reason, looking out for a child who so far we have no reason to believe is related to him. He is going to feel responsible. Killua’s telling him not to take responsibility here, but he’s responding by taking his responsibility even more seriously. I mean mostly Wing is just an exposition device with a mysterious yet-to-be-revealed motive, but there’s still thought in who he is, what he does, and why. And that’s really well played on the part of this show. -- source link
