Ms. Codex 1566 - [Book of hours: use of Metz]This beautiful book of hours, use of Metz, features a calendar, the Hours of the Virgin, the Penitential Psalms and Litany, and the Office of the Dead. The calendar includes Saint Arnulf (11 October) and Saint Clement (23 November), both bishops of Metz, and the opening miniature of the Hours of the Virgin, showing Mary nursing Jesus, is particularly associated with Metz. It was originated in Metz, France, between 1375 and 1399 CE. It is in Latin, but the calendar is in French.It is so beautiful that it deserves more consideration!
