devotaj:chaosophia218: Z'ev ben Shimon Halevi - The Menorah, “A Kabbalistic Universe”, 1977.The design of the seven-branched candlestick, or Menorah, was given to Moses on Mount Sinai. It has eleven nodal points, four divisions, two wings hung on a central column and twenty-two decorations. Made from a single piece of gold, it represents the unity of Existence. The Menorah sets out in metaphysical form the scheme of the primordial World of Emanation, as it came to be called. This is the Divine dimension from which all things come into being and to which they return at the End of Time. As such, this realm of radiance both reveals and conceals the Godhead. This is game changing!!! It makes so much more sense to have the Jewish kabbalistic tree of life be mapped to a menorah than anything else!Z’ev ben Shimon haLevi is new to me, so I looked him up. First – Jewish – so that’s good. He’s written dozens of books, which might mean nothing, but looking at his website, I’m curious. Lots of images on the site, so worth exploring (thank goodness for Google translate!).I ordered the book this image comes from and one other. Both old paperbacks (sigh - no Kindle), so it will be a while before I get through them. But this is definitely how I will really think of the Tree from now on. -- source link
