tiny-planty-grower:Okay but assuming this is about christianity (religion does not mean Christianity!!! Stop using them as the same thing!!!!), that’s actually a bad idea. As far as I can understand, Christianity insists on the correct thought, and if you don’t have it, you are a bad person. End of story. That’s not the solution. If you’re racist, the goal should be to recognize your racism and change and address it, not deny it to try to become ‘good’. The way to get rid of racism is to educate yourself, recognize racism in yourself, and work to change. Denying it to be a ‘good’ person or accepting it and that you are irredeemably bad are both bad solutions, because that doesn’t fix the problem. So I get the sentiment, but no, do not address racism like Christianity does being gay. It’s harmful and will not end well. I mean, it might have something to do with the book Christianity is based on being explicitly pro-slavery, pro-killing gay people and regularly touts itself as the word of “God’s chosen people”. I’m pretty sure if you can convince yourself you belong in that lattermost category, the rest of that isn’t hard to swallow. -- source link
