Murphy got his results back from the vet. He’s not diabetic or pre-diabetic, he doesn’t
Murphy got his results back from the vet. He’s not diabetic or pre-diabetic, he doesn’t have a thyroid issue…he’s just fat. I took him in on Tuesday in a panic because I found a small growth on his back right leg. It was squishy and felt benign but I wanted to check, and the results confirmed today that it’s just a lipoma, which is, of course, a benign mass of fat cells. Anyway, the big news is that he’s 26.08 pounds and he’s now officially on a diet, so stay tuned to watch his weight loss journey. The urinary tract food he was on was the culprit - he had a urethral blockage back in 2013 and was placed on a special urinary tract diet, but the problem with those foods is that they’re very high in fatty acids. That’s good for the kidneys, sure, but unfortunately, they can cause a lot of weight gain in cats, and Murphy is already huge and doesn’t need any more help in that department. If you want to keep up with Murphy as he works on slimming back down, keep an eye on the tag CHONK to SLONK. He probably won’t ever be a true SLONK since he’s big-boned and massive to begin with, but the idea is there. -- source link
