teigeki-graph: “New Sakura Taisen,” a tentative title, was announced at SegaFes on Saturday, April 14. The tweet from Sega says that “the setting is the imperial capital Tokyo in the 29th year of the Taisho Era (舞台は太正二十九年の帝都・東京).” Funny thing is, the real Taisho Era was only 15 years long and ended in 1926, but through the power of reasoning we can assume that the fictional Taisho 29 should be 1940. The official site further elaborates, 『新サクラ大戦』(仮題)は、太正二十九年の帝都・東京を舞台にしたまったく新しい物語を描く、『サクラ大戦』シリーズの完全新作です。 Or (pardon my rough translation), “‘New Sakura Taisen’ (tentative title), which depicts a completely new story set in the imperial capital Tokyo in the 29th year of the Taisho Era, is a new work in the “Sakura Taisen” series.” As Famitsu reports, the slide used at the announcement during the SEGA Fan Meet-Up 2018 called it “a completely new work inheriting the DNA of Sakura Taisen (サクラ大戦のDNAを受け継ぐ完全新作).” I’m a little torn between thinking this will be an alternate timeline and a direct sequel based on what they’re saying, but it’s really too early to assume much. Whatever the case, no dates have been given for further information; everything is TBA at this point. -- source link
