soolagna:Been sitting on this piece for a whole year, but now that Boola Bardip is finally open (also known as Many Stories/ The Western Australia Museum) I can finally put this up here! I was commissioned by them back in 2019 for their Connections Gallery to depict the day a ship full of child labourers would be brought to the shores of a land that has never been ceded. Done digitally, photoshop can’t be bothered reposting this but this is a big part of why I haven’t been posting (well along with covid19 happening and all). It’s wild having my work be a permanent part of museum, and has not fully sunk in. I was initially conflicted about doing it until I learned about the person central to the piece. Needless to say, empires harm and displace their own children and then do it to the children of others. The challenge of the brief was to depict this event in history to the youngest patrons of the museum. hopefully I did. -- source link
