anamericananomaly:No I’m sorry at this point, though the mobile gaming industry has many a gem and could be such a great evolution to gaming, it has become an absolute staple of the WORST qualities of the gaming industry as a whole. I think part of the backlash originates from what we’ve seen. Every time we see a major game get a mobile “spin off” it’s almost always a cheap knockoff of either some other popular game or some game that nobody wanted to play and they’ve just slapped the name of the other game on it. And worse these games are almost unplayable without constantly dumping money into in-app purchases and microtransactions. A great example is that damned FFXV game that came out a while back. Besides being an obvious clone of other games in the genre it was almost impossible to play without dumping a SUBSTANTIAL amount of money into and worst of all it had the budget to be EVERYWHERE. I couldn’t so much as think about opening an app without my phone playing an ad for that goddamn game. It was inescapable. Others have come out but honestly they’re either ad machines or microtransaction mills. And just because they have “other teams” doesn’t mean they’re not wasting resources and manpower that COULD be going to Diablo 4. Blizzard would have to take some serious steps to make this game different and frankly I doubt they will. My encouragement to other gamers is to look at this critically. If Blizzard puts in the effort to make a solid ad/microtransaction free game, then yes go for it! Buy it, play it, show it love. Buuut in the far more likely event that it’s a crappy cash grab DON’T download it, don’t put money into it, and spread the word. Let it fail and then make sure Blizzard knows why. Email them, tweet them, whatever. -- source link
