Jane Avril (1895). Maurice Biais (French, 1872-1926). Poster. Printer: Imp. Charle Verneau, ParisBiais was a self-taught illustrator, lithographer, and posterist who never disclosed his personal data. He attracted attention first with humorous drawings; later he produced some lithographs good enough to be shown in the Salon of 1903. Considering that Jane Avril married the designer after he created this lively bit of frou-frou, one can only assume that she must have been rather impressed with his personal interpretation. -- source link
