tabularojo:notpulpcovers:caturface:prikka:notpulpcovers:Remember Richard Prince, the guy who sold other people’s Instagram images for tens of thousands of dollars? He also has an exhibit where he pairs original pulp paperback paintings with their finished paperbacks, then calls the pairing a new piece of art, specifically Untitled. He has a whole gallery full of them.Just at first glance, I see a Maguire, a few Avati’s, an Emshwiller, a Chiriaka, a Borack, and a Ron Lesser. I don’t see any art by Robert Prince.wooooow what an assholeThe problem with the above comments is that these people are trying to define what is and isn’t art. I think the modern art movement is bullshit as much as the next guy, but I would never say what is and isn’t art, because you know what? I’m not an asshole.Nothing like extremely judgmental non-judgmentalism. But if declaring that putting other people’s paintings and books in frames is not art makes me an asshole, then I’m an asshole. I have been called worse for things I am less proud of.I mean he bought the paintings and the books right? So I don’t see a problem with him exhibiting these as a new art pieceDo the pulp artist’s estates receive a cut of the exhibit takings though? That’s the question for me. -- source link
