Clerodendrum thomsoniae is in the family Lamiaceae. Commonly known as bleeding heart vine, it is native to the tropics of eastern Africa including areas of Senegal, Nigeria, and Cameroon. Bleeding heart vine, as it’s name suggests, is an evergreen vine that produces bi-colored flowers consisting of white bracts and bright red petals. Because of the vibrant floral display, bleeding heart vine has become a very popular garden ornamental, with cultivation beginning in the 19th century. Bleeding heart vine flowers during the warm summer months and requires heavy doses of fertilizer to bloom profusely. -- source link
