Hello everyone!!!Saw the Argo City Promptlist… and inspiration hit. I’m gonna see how many of these I can check down along the way. Hope you enjoy with the whole event and remember the @argo-city-exchange will be sharing the tagged post so you can check out what everyone is doing!!! Also adding a little attempt at writing, if you wanna give it a read: Lena had decided to give reading a go. Just a few minutes at the very least, to give her mind a rest from all the life threatening decisions she made on the daily, enjoying someone else’s thoughts for a change. Until she heard some fumbling of keys from the door.Peering up from her novel, a book neglected after so many months of work and life getting in the way, Lena caught a glimpse of  her girlfriend’s bag and coat strewn onto the floor at the entrance of the apartment, as Kara opened and closed the door, before sending her a pouting face accompanied by what she could only imagine was an exhausted huff.“Read to me?”Lena settled her finger between the pages as she closed the book to look up, surprised by  Kara’s plea. “This? You sure? It’s a good novel, but you might not get the context.”“I don’t mind… but only if you want to, don’t wanna get in the way of your reading time.” Kara stepped tentatively toward Lena reaching out to brush some of her hair away from her forehead, showing clear embarrassment at interfering with her girlfriend’s quiet time. “I find your voice so soothing, and I could use soothing right now.”Marking the page and closing the book before standing up, Lena stepped towards Kara and cradled her hand between the both of hers in a gentle gesture.“Of course. Why don’t you change into comfy clothes?”  With a last squeeze before letting go, Lena waited for the other woman to acknowledge her comment. “I’ll make us both some tea and we can read for a bit.” Heading to the kitchen while Kara went into the bedroom in agreement to what she proposed, Lena held all the questions piling on her mind about Kara’s day and what had made her feel so on edge.With the tea ready, Lena heard as Kara sat down on the armchair she had gotten as a joke at first, but that turned into their favorite piece of furniture. Heading back and setting the tea on the small coffee table, Lena made a fast decision. She sat down across Kara’s lap and settled in, feeling the other woman hold on to her in indication of it being a pleasant surprise.“Comfy?” Asked Kara while slipping her arms closer around Lena.“Very,” said Lena while reaching towards the couch, feeling safe in the steady grip of her girlfriend. She picked the book back up and opened where she had left her reading, before looking back up to Lena with the most tender smile she always reserved for Kara. “Shall I?”“Please.” Was the answer she gave in a small, calmer voice, while holding Lena closer and staring into her downcast eyes that started following the words while reading out load.So, with no other comment, that’s how both women enjoyed the rest of their evening, in calm and precious company, knowing fully well that they could always get back home and let their imagination lose while the world waited for them to finish another chapter. -- source link
